Your Weekly Constitutional: Slavery and the Declaration

Your Weekly Const.

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL)- Slavery and the Declaration. Have you ever read the entire Declaration of Independence? Not just the preamble and the conclusion, but the stuff in between? It can get a little confusing, especially when the Second Continental Congress complains that King George III “has excited domestic insurrections amongst us.” Really? What insurrections? And who were the participants? Could Thomas Jefferson and Company have been referring to slaves? Historian Robert Parkinson of Binghamton University tells us all about it.

Catch ‘Your Weekly Constitutional’ with Stewart Harris on WETS-FM, 89.5, Sundays at 3pm and Tuesdays at 8pm.
