Hundreds wear purple, walk to end alzheimer’s in Kingsport

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL)-Hundreds of people gathered in Kingsport Saturday morning wearing purple in support of a good cause.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s brought more than 200 people to Warriors’ Path State Park for the event.

Volunteers like Ginny Jenkins said it was overwhelming to see the amount of support they continue to receive every year from the community.

“When I did the speech a while ago, I just, I had to stop for a minute because I was crying, but it’s a very emotional to see all these people and all the love, and all these people gathering around to try to find a cure,” Jenkins said.

Walkers in Kingsport raised more than $52,000 that will go toward Alzheimer’s support, care, and research.
