JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL)- For the 10th year the Junior League of Johnson City hosted its annual Touch-A-Truck event for kids of all ages.
Trucks gathered at the Kmart parking lot in order for children to learn first hands about police cars, fire trucks, tow trucks, and much more.
Organizers like Ginny Wright with Junior League said within the first three hours of the event they saw more than 600 people stop by.
Wright said for the first time this year the Touch-A-Truck event featured a quiet hour, allowing children with sensory disorders time to process the event.
“We want all kids, regardless of any kind of sensory perception issues to enjoy the event. We’ve got police officers, fireman, emergency workers, so the trucks are important but they also get to interact with what we think of as our local heros,” Wright said.
Wright estimated the event would raise around $12,000 for the Junior League of Johnson City.
