Johnson City police: Man charged with making false report about shooting

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The Johnson City Police Department reports a man is behind bars for allegedly making up a story that he was shot in the leg.

Police say 22-year-old Zackery Toney, of Johnson City, was found at the Johnson City Medical Center on early Tuesday suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.

Toney told police that he was shot while walking near the Cherry Street parking lot.

An investigation revealed Toney made up the story about a shooting.

Toney was arrested on Thursday and taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held on a $5,000 bond. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday morning.
