JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Indian Trail Middle School students gathered Friday morning to support their classmate Ben Boone who is battling a brain tumor.
During a walk-a-thon, students chanted “Fearless Ben” and spelled out his name.
10-year-old Ben recently had his first surgery; an operation his parents said could help determine if Ben’s tumor is cancerous.
While Ben and his family wait for the results, his fellow students, and teachers told News Channel 11 they wanted to inspire him to stay fearless in his fight.
“To put the word fearless with his name, it just gives him a hope and just a backing here at Indian Trail with his friends,” said Indian Trail Health Teacher David Nutter.
Nutter said Indian Trail will continue to find ways to support Ben while he’s away from school.
