JCPD: One person arrested following stabbing at Monarch Apartments

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man on aggravated assault charges following a report of a stabbing at a local apartment complex Thursday night.

According to a JCPD news release, officers responded to Monarch Apartments, 1109 University Parkway, in reference to the stabbing around 4:40 a.m., where they found one person with a stab wound to the lower back.

The victim was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment and is expected to recover.

JCPD’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene and interviewed witnesses.

During the investigation, police discovered that a fight had occurred between several people in Monarch’s parking lot and one person was stabbed in the back.

Samuel Cauthren, 21, was identified as the suspect and was charged with aggravated assault.

Cauthren was taken to the Washington County Detention Center where he was being held on $50,000 bond.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court Sept. 26 at 1:30 p.m.
