Elizabethton leaders continue discussions to keep Twins in town

ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL)- Elizabethton remains hopeful that a deal can be struck with the Minnesota twins that will keep the organization’s club team in Elizabethton. Elizabethton Mayor Curt Alexander along with parks and recreation director, mike mains, will be making a trip to Minneapolis, Minnesota on Tuesday to continue talks with the Minnesota Twins about field renovations that are needed in order to keep the club team in Elizabethton.TWINS

Alexander said, “I don’t feel like they would have invited us up to come meet with them and go through some details if they weren’t interested in staying in Elizabethton.”

“We’ve said before that we’re very interested in keeping them here and we’re going to do everything that we can to keep them here and it looks like they want to stay here as well,” he said.

The Minnesota Twins have been postponing making a decision to keep the twins in Elizabethton until they name a new general manager. Alexander said the organization is expecting to name a new GM in the next 30 days.
