SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man on child exploitation charges Wednesday.
According to a SCSO news release, detectives started communicating with Anthony Mareda, 44, during an undercover exploitation case, where they sent him text messages as if they were a 17-year-old girl from Bristol, Tenn.
Mareda reportedly said he was from Columbia, Tenn. and wanted to meet the girl for sexual acts.
Phone calls, involving an undercover female detective and Mareda, were recorded during the investigation.
According to the release, Mareda said he had $70 for the 17-year-old if she would meet him and perform sexual acts with him at a Walmart in Bristol, Tenn.
Around 3 p.m., officers saw Mareda approach the location to meet up with who he believed to be teenage girl.
Mareda was arrested and charged with solicitation aggravated statutory rape and was taken to the Sullivan County Jail.
He was being held on $50,000 bond, and was scheduled to be in court Sept. 27 at 9 a.m.
