Man dies in Greeneville crash on Bohannon Ave.


UPDATE — Greeneville Police Department officers said the driver of a car that crashed Thursday night has died.

Officers said Daniel French, 68, was driving a SUV when he lost control on Bohannon Avenue, left the roadway and crashed into a power pole.

Police said French was pinned under the vehicle when they arrived on the scene.

Officers said he was not wearing a seat belt.

Emergency crews airlifted French to the hospital where he died Friday morning.

The crash is still under investigation.

GREENEVILLE, TN (WJHL) – Greeneville Police Department officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Bohannon Avenue Thursday evening.

According to GPD Capt. Mike Crum, the crash happened just before 5:30 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was flown to Johnson City Medical Center. Crum said the driver’s injuries appeared to be critical.

No passengers were inside the vehicle.

Police are in the process of notifying family at this time.

News Channel 11 crews on-scene said Greeneville Light and Power crews responded to the area and were currently trying to restore power after a power pole was cut off at the bottom.

A check of the Greeneville Light and Power outage map around 9 p.m. Thursday indicated power had been restored to customers in that area.
