EPD: Teen hit riding bike in Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) – A teenager riding a bicycle was taken to the hospital after being involved in a crash with a vehicle in Elizabethton Wednesday afternoon.

Elizabethton police confirmed the crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on West G Street, near South Roan Street and Watauga Avenue.

According to EPD Capt. Jerry Bradley, the car — a gold Ford Focus — was traveling eastbound on G Street and the teen — an Elizabethton High School freshman — was riding on a bike on a nearby sidewalk, when the teen pulled out from behind a bush into the path of the car.

Bradley said the teen was alert while being taken to Johnson City Medical Center.

The Elizabethton Fire Department, Carter County Rescue Squad and the Elizabethton Police Department responded to the scene.

The driver was not charged in the crash.
