Debbie Thomas was a successful businesswoman. When her youngest daughter was in kindergarten she decided to volunteer as a teachers aid. Shortly after she went back to school to get her teaching degree
In her 6th year at the head of the class Thomas seems many similarities to her former business life but says the immediate rewards of a teacher are much more significant.
“Professionalism in business and in education are about the same. The difference is your clients are student who are learning and exploring and discovering. That sometimes is more exciting than some of the stuff I did in business,” said Thomas.
Thomas uses a variety of techniques to inspire the children including costumes, song and dance, and a variety of voices.
Congratulations to Debbie Thomas, this week’s Educator of the Week.
