KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Tennessee will wear their “Smokey Grey” uniforms in their game against Florida. The uniforms debuted when Tennessee played Georgia in October 2015. The University of Tennessee football team will go against its rival, Florida, on Saturday.
The Smokey Grey helmets have the familiar orange Power T, but it rests on a shell that features a mountain pattern in shades of grey. Nike designers spent time in the Smoky Mountains to come up with a design that was true to the region.
In their previous game, the Vols beat Ohio 28-19. UT moved to No. 14 spot in the AP Top 25 Poll. Florida is ranked No. 23. Both teams are 3-0.
Josh Smith will be back as a wide receiver and Jalen Reeves-Maybin is listed as a starting linebacker for the upcoming game.
The Vols received several injuries while playing against Ohio. On Monday, Jones say Cam Sutton will not play in the game against Florida because of a fractured ankle. Darrin Kirkland, Jr will be out for the game due to an ankle injury. Quart’e Sapp is out for the rest of the season due to an ACL injury.
Florida’s quarterback, Luke Del Rio, may not play in the game on Saturday. Del Rio injured his left knee, according to the Associated Press.
“It doesn’t look great, so we’ll do whatever,” said coach Jim McElwain. “Somebody else will play and we’ll get some guys ready and move forward and get ready to go play next week.” According to AP, Austin Appleby may take Del Rio’s place in the game. Appleby formerly played for Purdue.
ESPN College GameDay will air in Knoxville ahead of the game.
