KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL)-Saturday afternoon people gathered in Kingsport to honor those who died on September 11, 2001.

Fred Blair with the Sullivan West Volunteer Fire Department said the American Flag Parade was also to honor the men and women of our nation’s military.

The parade traveled through Kingsport along Moreland Drive, eventually ending at the Veterans Memorial near Dobyns-Bennett High School.

“The only thing we can do is pay tribute to all of the people we have lost, doing what they do is to save people’s lives,” Blair said.

The group that gathered also made t-shirts that read ‘Never Forget 9/11’ They sold the shirts for $15 each, and said the money would go toward local fire and police departments.
