WCSO holds blood drive for 9-month-old with rare disease

Brently Ledford

WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The Washington County Sheriff’s Office held a special event to honor a young boy fighting a rare disease.

Brentley Ledford, who is 9-months-old, has a rare disease that affects the development of his skull and can lead to developmental delays, deafness and blindness.

Next month, he will undergo another invasive surgery.

Brentley’s dad is a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy and on Friday the sheriff’s office hosted a blood drive in his honor.

Chief Deputy Leighta Laitinen said that every slot in the drive was booked Friday and said she was overwhelmed and thanks the community for its support.
