JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – A chance opportunity for Elizabeth Bennett led to a lifetime passion. It was her freshman year at King University when a professor asked her to be a lab tutor and the rest as they say is history.
She is now in her fifth year of teaching Chemistry at Science Hill High School. Pretty impressive since this was her very first teaching job.
She teaches Juniors and Seniors in basic and advanced Chemistry classes. She admits the first year was a challenge, but she quickly added teaching is her true calling.
“I think being young is an advantage because i can relate to students really well. I like to a build a classroom community and I like my students to go to me for more than just science,” said Bennett.
In addition, to her teaching duties Bennett also coaches the cheerleaders and sponsors Science Hill’s Science Bowl team.
Congratulations to Elizabeth Bennett this week’s Educator of the Week,
