GREENE COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Greeneville police released the name of the man who was killed in a crash over the weekend. Officers identified the driver as 41-year-old Michael Long of Greeneville. The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Police says Long was driving a 2005 white Acura TL northeast on Snapps Ferry Road near Andrew Johnson Highway.
According to the Greeneville Police Department, the driver left the road and struck a concrete pillar that was supporting the 11-E bridge.
Reports detail that there were no signs of the vehicle ever braking before the accident The driver was unresponsive when police arrived and had to be extricated by the rescue squad.
Police say the driver did not appear to be wearing a seat belt. The accident remains under investigation.
