Thousands came from near and far for Battle at Bristol pregame kick off

BRISTOL, TN/VA (WJHL) – People in the Tri-Cities kicked off The Battle at Bristol weekend with a historic moment in Downtown Bristol. Two states came together before facing off in college football’s biggest game for The Battle on the State Line Kick off party.

Thousands came out for a chance for fans of the Tennessee Vols and Virginia Tech Hokies to enjoy some time together before their favorite teams face off at the Speedway. John Quinn moved to the Tri-Cities all the way from Arizona when he heard about the game a couple of years ago.

“Two years ago I said I’m going to that Battle at Bristol game, I don’t know how…so when I got the lottery I didn’t get selected, but I kept calling and calling the speedway and they said we got some tickets released, for the VIP section, in the battle field section, so if you want it you gotta get it. and so here I am at the biggest sporting event ever,” Quinn said.

The festivities included food vendors, brewfest, games and more.
