Man charged in the deaths of two Greeneville babies, now facing charge for allegedly assaulting an inmate

TBI said Erick Jones, Jr., Kendra Tweed’s boyfriend, told them he smoked marijuana and sold cocaine the night the girls died.

GREENEVILLE, TN (WJHL)- According to Greene County Assistant District Attorney Ritchie Collins, Erick Jones Jr. was indicted last week for aggravated assault.

We reported in August, the Third Judicial District Attorney General Dan Armstrong said he will be seeking the death penalty for Erick Jones, Jr. in the 2014 deaths of 13-month-old Kynsleigh Easterly and 2-month-old Trinity Tweed.

Jones is now facing an aggravated assault charge after an incident inside the jail  where he allegedly assaulted another inmate, sending the inmate to the hospital with injuries to his face, according to Collins.

Jones will go to trial for the double murder of the Greeneville sisters in May of 2017. Collins said Jones’ trial for the assault will happen after that.
