Johnson City Cardinals win the Appalachian League Championship

JOHNSON CITY (WJHL) – The Johnson City Cardinals were one win away from capturing the Appalachian league championship, but first they would have to knock off a Burlington team that had the reputation of being “road warriors.”

Cardinals eyeing their 4th Appalachian league title in the last 7 years.

The Cards helping the Royals early…Burlington up 1-0 after a past ball, Nathan Esposito grounding this one to Bryce Denton…Denton can’t handle it and Chris Devito scores…Royals up 2-0…

But Denton making up for it in a big way in the 7th…With two on, Denton putting a dent in this baseball…high and deep to left field and that ball is gone…a three run shot…Cardinals up 9-4.

And adding to it in the 8th…Matt Fiedler ripping a single into left field..Shane billings crossing the plate…cards up 10-4.

And the nail in the coffin, Andrew Kizner sending this pitch right back up the middle…Allen Cordoba crossing the plate…Johnson City up 11-4.

Royals down to their final out, lifting this ball into right field and the catch is made…Johnson City wins the Appalachian league championship, defeating Burlington 11-6…
