HAWKINS COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A high school in Hawkins County was placed on lockdown Thursday, following a report of a weapon on school property.
According to a Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office news release, Cherokee High School administrators and the Hawkins County School Resource Office responded to the threat and discovered an airsoft pellet gun that reportedly looked like an actual gun with a silencer.
A student was taken into custody by a school resource officer and the school remained on lockdown as a precautionary measure until authorities were certain there was no danger to the students and staff.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
