RUSSELL COUNTY, VA (WJHL) – Funeral arrangements have been made for a 15-year-old who was killed in a dirt bike crash late last week in Russell County, Virginia.
State troopers are investigating the crash that claimed the life of Teddy Fleming, a Lebanon High School football player. The crash happened 8:15 p.m. on Thursday in the 1100 block of Shotgun Hollow Road.
Virginia State Police say a CRF150 dirt bike, driven by Fleming, was traveling on Shotgun Hollow Road. Officers say as the bike crested at a hill and drove around a curve it struck a Dodge pickup truck head-on.
Fleming, of Cleveland, VA, was killed in the crash.
According to VSP, Fleming was not wearing a helmet.
Dr. Greg Brown, superintendent of Russell County Schools, confirmed to News Channel 11 a sophomore football player at Lebanon High School died in a crash Thursday night. He also told us that extra counselors were at the school Friday to help provide assistance to those who needed it.
According to Combs Funeral Service of Lebanon, a celebration of life will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, September 4th in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel.
Fleming is expected to be buried in the family cemetery in Thompson Valley, Virginia on Monday at 2pm.
