Deputies say they are still working to identify the person behind the threats.

Spartanburg County District Five says law enforcement will be patrolling the school throughout the weekend and performing random sweeps of the campus before students return.

The district also asked that additional officers be placed at Byrnes and other schools in the Duncan area on Tuesday and throughout the rest of the week.

Superintendent Dr. Scott Turner released a statement saying, “I want to ensure our parents and community that we are taking these threats extremely seriously, and are doing everything possible to make sure our campuses are secure. We are working with law enforcement to ensure the individual who made these threats is found. As always in District Five, the safety of our students and staff is our first priority.”
