BRISTOL, TN (WJHL)- The final touches on Bristol Motor Speedway’s transformation for the Battle at Bristol are now underway.
UT grounds crew members painted the center field logo Saturday morning to adorn the field for the historic game.
The project took nearly 45 gallons of paint, and nine colors.
Officials said the entire project would take anywhere from four to five hours to complete.
Darren Seybold , a member of the UT grounds crew, said while they do a lot of work for the University of Tennessee, this was a whole new level of excitement.
“We always use the word, excitedly nervous, because that’s what it is, you’re nervous to do it but then you’re excited when it’s over. You just want to take your time, big audience, we want to make it right, so we are taking our time,” Seybold said.
The Speedway said they plan to paint the Volunteer and Hokie end zones Monday morning.
