WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – An area middle school has been placed on lockdown as a search for a fugitive continues in Gray, TN. The school started the day on a “soft” lockdown, then its status changed to a “hard” lockdown. The school recently, received the “all clear” to return to “soft” lockdown status.
Law enforcement would not confirm but Washington County Schools sent our a text alert Friday morning, that said, “The Sheriff’s Office has placed Boones Creek Middle School on lockdown due to a threat in the area.”
Moments later, the school district sent out a text alert that stated, “Boones Creek Middle School has received the ALL CLEAR from the Sheriff’s Office.”
News Channel 11 called the school district and they confirmed the school was on lockdown because of the ongoing search for the fugitive.
During a hard lockdown no one is allowed to leave the classroom or enter the building and all the doors are locked. A soft lockdown means that students and faculty are allowed to walk around the building, but no one from the outside is allowed to enter the building.
The school’s resource officer is on hand and is aiding with security efforts at the school
According to authorities, England has a history of violence and should be considered dangerous. He is described as standing about 5’8″ and weighing about 145 pounds. He also has a tattoo on his left upper chest and a tattoo on his right upper arm.
