JCPD: Man arrested in Roadrunner Market armed robbery

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – A Johnson City man was arrested after robbing a gas station with a knife.

Police responded to an armed robbery call at the Roadrunner Market on West Walnut Street around 7 a.m. Thursday.

The clerk working at the store told investigators that a man came in with a knife and demanded money from the register, but after the clerk refused the suspect ran away.

After looking through surveillance video, police found Coleman Durnford, 33, nearby.

Durnford was arrested and charged with one count of attempted aggravated robbery and was being held on $50,000 bond on that charge.

He was also charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft of property over $1,000 on outstanding warrants obtained by Johnson City Police Department.

According to the release, Durnford he also has a $50,000 bond on the warrant.

He was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Sessions Court.
