Kevin Harvick wins the 56th annual Bass Pro Shops NRA Race at BMS

BRISTOL (WJHL) – Racing is back in Bristol for the 56th annual Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Continuous rain caused the race to be postponed to Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m., but the race was once again delayed because of heavy showers in the area.

The race started just before 4:45 p.m. Sunday after the lengthy rain delay.

Kevin Harvick, driving the No. 4 Busch Beer Chevrolet, won the race, marking his 33rd victory in 561 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races, his second and 18th Top 10 finish in 2016.

According to a NASCAR news release, Sunday’s win at Bristol is his second victory and 15th Top 10 finish in 32 races at BMS.

Placing second was Ricky Stenhouse, Jr., marking his fourth Top 10 finish in eight races at BMS and his fifth Top 10 finish in 2016.

Harvick and Stenhouse, Jr., were followed by Denny Hamlin and Chris Buescher.

6:50 p.m. – Kevin Harvick is the new race leader, followed by No. 22 Joey Logano.

6:46 p.m. – We have a new race leader here at BMS – No. 22 Joey Logano

6:31 p.m.- CAUTION – Big wreck in Turn 3 involving Kurt Busch, Brad Keselowski, as well as the No. 21 car of Ryan Blaney

6:31 p.m.- After a caution, we’re back racing.

6:24 p.m. – Crash involving race leader Kyle Busch. The No. 18 car is behind pit road and Kyle Busch is out of the car. The No. 4 car of Kevin Harvick is your new race leader.

6:16 p.m. – Kevin Harvick is your new race leader at lap 350.

6:07 p.m. – And we’re back racing. Kyle Busch is the current race leader followed by Kevin Harvick

6:01 p.m.- CAUTION – Kyle Larson spins.

6 p.m.- We’re at lap 300 here at BMS.

5:55 p.m.- Kevin Harvick is your new race leader here at BMS.

5:49 p.m.- And we’re back at green. Kyle Busch is the current race leader here at BMS.

5:27 p.m.- Kyle Busch takes back the lead position, followed by Carl Edwards and Kevin Harvick. We’re at Lap 200.

5:12 p.m.- Something we haven’t seen here a lot this weekend at BMS — the sun! — and there’s a caution. No. 7 Regan Smith went into the wall.

5 p.m.- No. 88 car driven by Jeff Gordon secures 2nd position behind race leader Kyle Busch.

4:57 p.m. – At lap 102, your current race leader is Kyle Busch, followed by Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon driving the No. 88.

4:55 p.m.- Ryan Newman is the new race leader.

4:53 p.m.- The caution is over and we’re back racing.

4:50 p.m.- Competition CAUTION.

4:43 p.m.- Kyle Busch in the lead, followed by No. 11 Ryan Blaney, and No. 78 Martin Truex, Jr.

4:34 p.m.- Cars are back on the track. No. 18 driver Kyle Busch is in the lead position, followed by No. 24 Chase Elliott and No. 21 Ryan Blaney.

4:30 p.m. – Drivers have started their engines again followed by a series of heavy rain showers Saturday night and Sunday morning. We’re about to get started here at BMS.

SATURDAY:

11:25 p.m.- Race postponed to Sunday at 1 p.m. Gates will open for fans at 11 a.m. Sunday.

10:52 p.m.- And it’s raining again here at Bristol Motor Speedway.

10:50 p.m.- The rain has stopped and the cars are back on the track. We’re getting close to a restart race fans.

9:12 p.m.- CAUTION: 32 laps in here at BMS and we’re under CAUTION due to rain.

9 p.m.- The cars are on the track and we’re about to get this race underway.

8:10 p.m.- Race fans asked to clear grandstands due to severe weather. Dryers are on the track, as well as the pace car.
