Man faces assault charge after hitting woman with water meter cover

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man on assault charges after he allegedly hit a woman with a water meter cover early Sunday morning.

According to a JCPD news release, police conducted a traffic stop Thursday and it was revealed that a passenger in the vehicle had an outstanding warrant the aggravated assault on Sunday.

An investigation revealed that a woman was taken to Johnson City Medical Center where she was treated for facial injuries after being hit with a water meter cover.

The woman was shown a photo lineup and identified Christopher Jordan Antone, 27, of Johnson City, as the suspect.

Antone was charged with aggravated assault and taken to Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $25,000 bond.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court Friday at 9 a.m.
