KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Aviation lovers in the Tri-Cities are celebrating the fourth annual National Model Aviation Day.
The Johnson City Radio Controllers Club took to the tarmac of the Tri-Cities Model Airport in Kingsport to fly as well as take donations for disabled american veterans.
The club flies airplanes as well as helicopters and has over 90 members.
News Channel 11 spoke with the club president who said it’s a fun hobby that anyone can learn.
“It’s an affordable hobby, a wonderful family hobby, we have a lot of family members where the kids got into it and the fathers joined in, it’s a good fun day out here,” Anthony Hall said.
The club offers free flight training and hopes to continue to attract aviation lovers from around the Tri-Cities.
