Dog dies in Bristol Virginia fire, woman burned while trying to escape.

BRISTOL, VA (WJHL)- The Bristol, Virginia fire department is investigating a house fire. Chief Battalion Cornett tells News Channel 11, the station got the call at just after 11:30 a.m. about a house fire on Lewis Street.

A lady living at the home was able to escape through the basement. Authorities say she suffered a minor burn but was treated on site. Two pets were also able to escape, but a dog perished in the fire.

The Bristol Virginia fire department is still investigating the fire and at this time says it appears the fire was started by accident.
