JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL-TV) – With temperatures outside continuing to reach the 90’s this week, people can look forward to a Blizzard coming their way.
On Thursday, July 28, Dairy Queen will be holding their annual Miracle Treat Day to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network. For every blizzard sold that day, Dairy Queen will donate $1 to the Children’s Miracle Network.
“We can’t do it alone, and so we are so grateful for our community partners, our local CMN partners such as Dairy Queen, because it takes a lot of money, like I said, we can’t do it without them. We are so grateful for everything that they do.”, explains Wellmont Foundation’s Anita Campbell, “All of the money that is raised thru Miracle Treat Day does stay local. It comes to our hospital, Wellmont Health System, and we use those funds to purchase life saving equipment that is needed for all of our hospitals, whether it is the emergency rooms, pediatric dept., even our neo-natal intensive care unit.”
Wellmont uses the money to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for its pediatrics departments, neonatal intensive care unit, birthing units and emergency departments and to fund community partnerships that advance children’s health.
“Technology is always advancing and thanks to Children’s Miracle Network funds, we are able to purchase updated and much needed equipment for them.”, says Campbell.
Miracle Treat Day started several years ago and has grown over the years to be one of Dairy Queen’s biggest and most popular days of the year, raising close to $18,000 last year. Those planning on going to the store in Johnson City can take advantage of pre-ordering.
“Our Johnson City Dairy Queen that is on Market St., they are doing the pre-blizzard sale so you can stop by and pre-pay for that and get a little coupon so they can come that day and don’t have to stand in line and use their voucher. “, explains Campbell.
