FunFest’s final evening draws big crowds despite hot air balloon show

KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – 20,000 people packed Ft. Henry Drive this evening for the last night of Kingsport’s FunFest.

Lightning cancelled the popular hot air balloon show but people still came out to enjoy The Taste of Tri-Cities, The Fray concert and the fireworks show.

Event Director, Lucy Fleming, was thrilled with this year’s events.

“I think everyone has had fun, we tried a lot of  new events this year, gotten people to locations they haven’t used for FunFest events, and activities they hadn’t seen before so we consider it a real success,” Fleming said.

The eight day festival saw over 120,000 people. Lucy says the planning process for next year is already underway.
