2-year-old girl dies after single-car crash in Spartanburg

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) – A toddler has died after a single-car crash that happened on E Blackstock Road, according to Coroner Rusty Clevenger.

2-year-old Lyryc Skylyn Mathis died at Greenville Memorial Hospital on July 20th, of head trauma from the accident.

The crash happened on July 9th at about 2:26 a.m.

33-year-old Tyler Brock Mathis, of Cowpens, was driving when he ran off the road, hit a curb and blew a tire. He then hit a utility pole on the right side of the car.

He was not injured.

Tyler Mathis was charged with driving too fast for conditions.
