NASHVILLE (WKRN) – Representative Jeremy Durham briefly addressed the media Thursday afternoon where he announced he is suspending his campaign for re-election.

The announcement comes just one day after a scathing report was released by the attorney general that alleges Durham was involved in inappropriate behavior.

During the short news conference, Durham also denied the sexual allegations against him. He said he plans to focus on spending time with his family and that this has been a difficult time.

Durham did not take questions from the media and asked for his privacy.

The report was released just one day before Durham’s statement and included at least 22 incidents with 21 women, including having sex with a college student in his legislative office.

Rep. Durham also announced he is suspending his campaign for re-election, telling News 2 that means “turning off ads” and “spending money only necessary to wrap things up.”

“Let me be clear by reiterating, I have learned from my mistakes. Right now, I am focused on spending time with my family during what has been a very difficult time for us,” he read from a prepared statement. “I ask for your respect and your privacy for my family during this difficult time.”

Durham was first elected to the Tennessee General Assembly in 2012. He was re-elected in 2014.
