Authorities searching for woman who pulled a knife on store clerk

GREENEVILLE, TN (WJHL) – Police in Greeneville are actively searching for a woman after a store clerk told authorities she pulled a knife on him. Police tell News Channel 11 the incident happened just after 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Tusculum Boulevard.

A store clerk told police that a woman came into the store acting strange while walking around. Reports say the woman then asked to use the phone and ultimately pulled a large knife and reached over the county and tried to slash the store clerk. He says she raised the knife in both hands and lunged at him and he grabbed her hands and twisted her wrist trying to get the knife away from her.

The suspect chased the clerk out of the door and ran up Forrest Hills Drive and into a residence at the intersection of Forrest Hills and Morningside Drives. Authorities say the woman at some point attempted to open the cash registered but couldn’t. Authorities say the knife that was used during the altercation was found broken inside the store.
