Man accused of raping elderly woman found guilty of all charges

BLOUNTVILLE, TN (WJHL) – A man accused of raping, kidnapping and robbing an elderly Blountville woman was found guilty of all charges by a Sullivan County jury Friday.

Larry Allen Stumbo, 23, was found guilty of all seven counts against him, which included especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated rape, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, employing a firearm during the commission of a felony, evading arrest and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.

Prosecutors said on February. 6th, 2014 Stumbo held the elderly victim at gunpoint after entering her home, raped her, then stole her TV and her truck.

Stumbo took the stand in his own defense on Thursday, saying he did not rape the victim, insisting the two had a consensual sexual relationship.

Stumbo led officers on a nearly 24-hour manhunt until his arrest on February 7th, 2014, the day after the crimes.

His sentencing is set for September 6th.
