Bristol, Virginia firefighters rescue people and pets in West Virginia floodwaters

BRISTOL, VA (WJHL) – The Bristol, Virginia fire department says 8 of its firefighters are in West Virginia rescuing people and pets stranded by the floods.

Fire department officials say they left to help at 7 p.m. Thursday night.

Since then, they’ve been working non-stop to save lives.

The fire department says they were called to West Virginia because they are one of several agencies that have the necessary gear to perform high water rescues.
