Police: Man suffers fractured hip, after robbery in Johnson City

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – A man is behind bars in Washington County for allegedly injuring and robbing a man in Johnson City. On Thursday morning, police say they were called to the Aspen Ridge Apartments on Kings Springs Road in reference to a suspicious person.

They arrived and found a 74-year-old man on his knees in the parking lot.  He was taken to Johnson City Medical Center where he was treated for a fractured right hip.

Police say 41-year-old Jason Avery assaulted the older man and took the victim’s cell phone.

Avery was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He is currently behind bars at the Washington County detention Center where he is currently being held under a $50,000 bond.
