GRAY, TN- The Jericho Shrine Rodeo officially kicked off its first round on Friday night at the Appalachian Fair.
North Carolina’s Lauren Smith had the fastest time in barrel racing Friday, finishing in 14.292 seconds.
In breakaway roping, Alabama’s Aleah Higgens roped her calf in 3 seconds flat to pick up the top spot Friday.
It was a much tougher day for the men. In tie down roping, Georgia’s Clint Thomas got his calf down and tied after breaking the barrier for a total time of 19.9 seconds. But everyone else had even worse times, so he still finished with the top time.
Round two of the rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. All the money raised from the rodeo goes to the local Shrine chapter.
