Ashlie Padgett, a recent graduate of Unicoi County High School, died from traumatic injuries as a result of the single-vehicle crash on Fire Tower Road on Buffalo Mountain.

Padgett was a softball player at Unicoi County High School and was recently named the best female athlete in the Unicoi County School System.

A community will gather at the Unicoi County Softball Field tonight at 8:30 p.m. for a candlelight vigil.

Padgett was one of two passengers in the pickup. The driver of the truck lost control while going down a steep road and struck a tree.

Investigators say charges are pending in relation to the crash.
