SCSO deputies arrest two men on theft charges

SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested two men on theft charges following a report of a vehicle theft on Edens View Road in Kingsport.

According to a SCSO news release, a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe was reported stolen from the home Sunday and the vehicle was spotted by Tennessee Highway Patrol at the intersection of Weaver Pike and Highway 394 in Bristol.

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Hayden Huffman, of Blountville. The passenger in the vehicle was identified as Shawnee Smith, of Bristol, Tenn.

SCSO detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation.

Huffman and Smith were both arrested and charged with theft over $1,000.

Officers found around three grams of a white, rock-like substance that was believed to be a crystal methamphetamine.

Drug paraphernalia was also found in the bag.

Huffman was additionally charged with possession of over half a gram of schedule II drugs, as well as unlawful drug paraphernalia.
