Police: Amarillo, TX Walmart shooter dead, hostages safe

AMARILLO, Texas (KXAN) — The active shooting at an Amarillo Walmart ended with the suspect shot and killed by a SWAT team, according to Amarillo police.

There were police reports of an armed subject in the store involved in a ‘workplace violence’ situation. The incident unfolded at a Walmart on Georgia Street off of I-27 around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Officer Jeb Hilton with the Amarillo Police Department said during a press update that there was one hostage known. The hostage is now reportedly safe.

A reporter on scene said there were shots fired in the store. The City of Amarillo has said there are no reports of injuries.
