BRISTOL — Even though funny car driver Matt Hagan operates a cattle farm in Christianburg, Virginia, he still considers the Bristol Dragway his hometown track.
After several frustrating years during an otherwise stellar funny car career, Hagan got the monkey off his back last season at Bristol when he won for the first time at his home track on father’s day.
After back to back wins at Atlanta and Topeka, plus setting national records for time and speed in the process Hagan would love to create more memories by winning the 16th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals for the 2nd year in a row.
After a sluggish start to the season, the two-time world champion has climbed up the points standings in rapid fashion and currently sits fourth overall.
Mello Yello drag racing series qualifying will feature two rounds at 5 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
