JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a Unicoi man on multiple charges Tuesday stemming from a crash caused by a road rage incident on Interstate 26.
According to a JCPD news release, Shaun F. Brummett, 24, left the scene of a crash caused by a road rage incident on I-26 eastbound at the North Roan Street exit.
Brummett had reportedly altered his license plate in an attempt to hide his identity before leaving the scene.
Another person involved gave 911 Brummett’s license plate information and the vehicle was found on east I-26 speeding and weaving through traffic.
When officers pulled Brummett over, he tried to get out of his vehicle and was told by officers to stay in the car and to put his hands up
Brummett told officers he had a firearm in his possession and a small caliber revolver was found in his pocket, according to the release.
Drug paraphernalia, marijuana and Suboxone were found in Brummett’s vehicle.
Brummett was charged with aggravated assault, altering automobile plates, unlawful drug paraphernalia, simple possession/casual exchange and possession of a deadly weapon during offense.
He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $42,000 bond.
Brummett was set to appear in Sessions Court Wednesday.
