Johnson City Jail corrections officer charged, fired after inmates found with Benadryl

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a Johnson City Jail corrections officer on June 5 for allegedly giving over-the-counter Benadryl to inmates.

According to a JCPD news release, an investigation revealed that McKayla Francis, 22, had sole Benadryl to inmates in the facility and was charged with official misconduct on June 7.

Francis’ employment was terminated with the City of Johnson City.

She was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she has been released on bond.

Francis’ preliminary hearing was set for Aug. 11 in Sessions Court.

The investigation pertaining to the inmates involved is ongoing.
