TRI-CITIES, TN (WJHL) – Hundreds of families around the region will struggle to feed their children during the summer months when they are out of school, but you can do your part to help out.
Good Samaritan Ministries feeds families of children on free and reduced lunch during the summer months through their food distribution program. They said they need the community’s help though because their donations are extremely low right now.
“It’s bad enough the families aren’t able to pay for their breakfast and lunch during the school year, so if they’re not getting that during the summer, then that burdens falls on the household,” Aaron Murphy, executive director of Good Samaritan Ministries, said.
Murphy said monetary donations are their biggest need, but anyone can help by volunteering their time at Good Samaritan as well.
