WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Washington County deputies say a man is facing multiple drug charges after a recent traffic stop.
Sheriff Ed Graybeal says deputies noticed a gray 1993 Isuzu Trooper crossing the center line several times.
Deputies discovered during the stop that the driver, Chad Jones, 24 of Kingsport, had a suspended license. Deputies also noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the SUV.
Deputies dispatched their K9 officer, named Stocky, who scoped out the vehicle and alerted officers to something in the driver’s side door.
Inside the door, deputies found 17 grams of weed and $2469.
Jones is charged with schedule VI drug violations for resale, unlawful drug paraphernalia, driving while license is suspended or revoked, due care and financial responsibility law.
Jones is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $12,000 bond.
