Limestone nursing home, John M. Reed, closes; last patient leaves

LIMESTONE, TN (WJHL) – A long-standing nursing home in Limestone will close today. The state licenses for the John M. Reed Nursing Home for the Aged, Inc.will be listed as “inactive status” following the closure of operations Friday.

This action was requested by the facility’s board of directors after it was realized the process to regain Medicare/Medicaid re-certification would be long.John M. Reed nursing home

The nursing home lost its ability to accept Medicare and Medicaid patients last year. All patients with that insurance left the facility.

In late January, the facility was able to begin accepting private-pay residents. Only three assisted living patients were at John M. Reed, though, and the last one of those patients was leaving the facility Friday. All three found new homes.
