JCPD charge man after large marijuana grow found in home

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police Department officers arrested a man Tuesday on multiple drug charges, as well as being a felon in possession of a handgun.

According to a JCPD news release, officers responded to a home on Swadley Road around 4:50 p.m. where they made contact with the homeowner, Shaun Daugherty, 49.

Daugherty was served with the search warrant and officers found a large hydroponic marijuana grow with fully mature plants, three firearms, a large amount of loose marijuana and a large amount of drug paraphernalia.

He was charged with manufacturing schedule VI, sales of schedule VI drug, unlawful drug paraphernalia, three counts of being a felon in possession of a handgun, maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are sold and posssession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

Daugherty was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $81,000 bond.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court Wednesday.
