Man accused of evading arrest, driving intoxicated minor in vehicle

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – A Johnson City man was arrested April 30 on charges of reckless driving and felony evading arrest.

According to a Johnson City Police Department news release, Peyton A. Howren, 20, was seen speeding recklessly through the neighborhood of Black Thorn Drive.

Officers tried to stop Howren but he did not comply, forcing the officers from the road.

After turning onto Magnolia Ridge Drive, officers closed the street and Howren was forced to stop.

According to court documents, there was a 16-year-old female passenger in the car with Howren. Officers smelled alcohol on her breath and she made several statements about drinking alcoholic beverages at a party that night.

The passenger was arrested and turned over to her father after receiving a misdemeanor citation.

Howren was arrested and taken to Washington County Detention Center on a $10,000 bond, and has since been release. His vehicle was turned over to his mother.

His next court date will be on June 16 at 9 a.m.
