Police: Man uses car to intentionally cause collision

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Johnson City Police have arrested a man who they say intentionally used the vehicle he was driving to cause a collision with another vehicle. Authorities arrested 32-year-old John Gonder and charged him with aggravated assault charges.

Police say the arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred at the intersection of Oakland Avenue  and Unaka Avenue. Gonder observed a vehicle which is registered to him and he claims was stolen.

Authorities tell us  no stolen vehicle report was completed by Gonder. There was evidence that shots were fired during the altercation, and that investigation is ongoing.

Gonder is being held in the Washington County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. He is expected to appear in court on Monday afternoon.
